Dr. Lorraine Jensen

Dr. Lorraine Jensen is the Chief of Medicine and Program Medical Director at Niagara Health.

In her role, she oversees several departments and works closely with the Heads of Service for each program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was a member of the HNHBB regional COVID-19 model of care working group and developed a call model whereby hospital-based General Internal Medicine physicians supported community physicians in care decisions. Prior to taking on the role of Chief of Medicine, Dr. Jensen served as the St. Catharines Site Lead of General Internal Medicine at Niagara Health.

Dr. Jensen completed medical school and her internal medicine residency at the University of Toronto and was the Chief Medical Resident at Women’s College Hospital. She has completed a quality improvement fellowship through the Veteran Affairs Quality Scholars Program. She is the site lead for GEMINI, which supports the Ontario General Medicine Quality Improvement Network (GeMQIN), and is actively involved in research. She has been the co-applicant on four successful CIHR grants.

Driven by her passion for advancing patient care and community outreach, Dr. Jensen acts as the General Internal Medicine Physician Lead for SCOPE (Seamless Care Optimizing the Patient Experience) and a consultant physician for REACH Niagara. She also sits on the FACS Niagara Foundation Board. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, travelling and spending time with her two children and husband.
