Having your Baby at Niagara Health: Information video provides resources for expectant parents

Posted Jun 10th, 2024

More than 3,000 babies are born each year at the Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines.

While the birth of your child is a time of excitement, we understand that patients may feel anxious or stressed as they begin this new chapter.

Niagara Health is proud to announce the launch of an information video, Having your Baby at Niagara Health, to provide parents and their families with a glimpse of what to expect when giving birth at our hospital.

“Having a safe and satisfying childbirth experience is at the forefront of our mission,” says Natalie Doucet, Director, Women, Babies and Children’s Health. “The birth of a child is a significant milestone. Our healthcare team works together to ensure the best possible care for you and your baby.”

During the video, parents will see the triage area, private labour rooms, operating rooms, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as where patients and their baby will stay after birth. The video also introduces some of the care providers patients may encounter while in the hospital such as social workers, lactation consultants, spiritual care advisors and Niagara Health’s Indigenous Health Services and Reconciliation team.

By equipping parents with the knowledge necessary, we hope to alleviate stress and provide them with the information they need to navigate their journey confidently.
