Niagara Health received a major distinction at the Brock University Celebration and Recognition Reception held on April 15.
Members of the Niagara Health team were proud to accept the Non-Profit Co-op Employer of the Year award for 2023. Niagara Health was selected based on its high-quality co-op training programs and a glowing letter of support from a past co-op student. This achievement recognizes ongoing efforts to recruit, train and retain top talent.
“We are grateful that students choose Niagara Health to learn with us and are proud to be a leader in training future health-care professionals” says Paula Matkowski, Director of Human Resources and People Services. “We are deeply honoured to receive a distinction from Brock University, one of Niagara’s prestigious academic institutions and a key partner of Niagara Health.” The hospital network has an extensive history of hiring Brock University co-op students year-round. Over the last 10 years, Niagara Health has facilitated more than 50 co-op work terms, including five hires in 2023, along with diverse co-op programs across faculties such as Applied Health Science, Business, and Math and Science.
The Brock Co-op Employer of the Year awards were launched in 2020 as an annual accolade that recognizes co-op organizations in three categories: Large, Small and Medium Enterprises and Non-profit. The Non-profit award category celebrates a non-profit organization’s impactful partnership with Brock University’s co-op education program.
Niagara Health is also honoured to announce that a member of its Operation Monarch team, Laurel Broski, received the Outstanding Brock Co-op Supervisor for the Summer 2023 Work Term Award. The distinction acknowledged the Change Management Specialist’s exceptional mentorship and leadership abilities.
