Niagara Health has been named one of Canada’s top employers by Forbes Media.
Niagara Health ranked 222nd out of 300 organizations on the annual Canada’s Best Employers list compiled by the influential media giant and market research firm Statista.
The list was released on the Forbes website Jan. 23 and is based on surveying more than 40,000 people who work for Canadian institutions and companies with at least 500 employees.
Survey participants rated their employer based on a variety of criteria, including salary, gender pay-equity, work flexibility, opportunities for promotion and on-the-job training. More than 900,000 employer evaluations were also considered.
“Putting people first is at the heart of what we do at Niagara Health, and making this list reflects that,” says Fiona Peacefull, Niagara Health’s Executive Vice-President, Human Resources. “We continually ask our teams to provide feedback on working at Niagara Health, and we continue to listen, reflect, learn and adapt our practices based on that input. It’s one of our top priorities to ensure our people feel supported, included, empowered and respected, and have the tools they need to support our patients and one another.”
Respondents were also asked if they would recommend their employer to others and had the opportunity to rate other employers in their respective industries. Responses given by current employees were given more weight than those from people who know the organization through friends, family or industry connections.
Data from the past three years were also included in the results with recent data given greater consideration. Responses were tallied with the 300 top-scoring organizations making the final list. Companies do not pay a fee to be considered in the Forbes ranking.
This recognition follows Niagara Health being named one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers for the sixth consecutive year last November. Niagara Health earned the accolades for its focus on providing its teams with unparalleled support in the areas of education, research innovation and partnerships to ensure safe, quality care, and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion across the organization.
