As we head into the August holiday weekend and continue to experience unprecedented pressures, we are reminding the public of the importance of only visiting the Emergency Departments (ED) when in need of serious medical attention.
For all other health concerns this long weekend:
- Contact your primary care provider (hours may vary during the holiday weekend);
- Call Health Connect Ontario to chat with a registered nurse 24/7 via phone or web chat;
- Visit our Urgent Care Centres (UCCs), which are open 24/7:
o in Fort Erie at 320 Bertie Street;
o in Port Colborne at 260 Sugarloaf Street.
Virtual appointments for urgent care are available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by visiting UrgentCareOntario.ca (closed Monday, Aug. 1, due to the holiday weekend).
Niagara Health continues to face immense pressures, and like hospitals across the province, we are considering how we can align our services to our available staffing levels. We are looking at all options to prioritize the delivery of safe, quality care for patients while supporting the wellness of our staff and physicians.
Patients and families will continue to experience longer wait times and delays in service as we respond to pressures. We recognize that waiting can be difficult and stressful, and we are asking for understanding and patience as we work through these challenges.
