Beginning today, Niagara Health’s outbreak activity will be reported on our COVID-19 activity section of our website. Two new outbreaks were declared over the weekend:
- An outbreak on Unit D at the Niagara Falls Site declared Friday, Jan. 7 involving five healthcare-associated cases of COVID-19.
- An outbreak on the Fourth Floor Unit at the Welland Site declared Saturday, Jan. 8 involving two healthcare-associated cases of COVID-19.
On Friday, Jan. 7, we began reporting the number of admitted inpatients with COVID-19 being treated primarily for COVID-19 and those being treated primarily for other conditions. Currently, 78 patients are being treated primarily for COVID-19 and 45 patients are being treated primarily for other conditions of the 123 patients with COVID-19 at Niagara Health.
Starting this week, we will add a twice weekly update on the number of our staff and physicians who are self-isolating due to COVID-19 and those who have tested positive for COVID-19.
