Winter is in the air, but that hasn’t stopped our kindness from growing. Niagara Health team members raised $79,056 for our Niagara Health United Way Workplace Campaign.
This year’s campaign theme, Kindness grows, every year, reflects the compassion and generosity of our team members and our commitment to getting better, every year.
Throughout October, team members were “spreading seeds of kindness” by wearing blue campaign T-shirts on Dress Down Fridays, donating prizes for the campaign gift draw and collecting donations for lunch and learns.
Our campaign committee visited departments with colourful carts of kindness, promoting the campaign and encouraging others to join the movement. Organizations in our community and beyond, such as Alesco Salon, Niagara IceDogs and Buffalo Sabres, generously donated prizes toward our campaign draw, held on October 30.
All funds raised came directly from our caring team members through one-time donations and payroll deduction pledges. Team members could also participate in the campaign by directing their donation to Niagara Health Foundation.
"It’s incredible to see our campaign grow every year and the impact we are making," says Niagara Health President Suzanne Johnston. "It's a testament to our compassionate culture and our focus on others."
United Way invests in 114 programs and special initiatives to help the most vulnerable people in our community. Last year, United Way programs helped more than 163,000 people in Niagara.
