Niagara Health was very thankful this week to receive a $670,000 donation from the 2017 Rankin Cancer Run.
The Rankin Run is a wonderful example of the caring community we have in Niagara, and we thank everyone involved in the run - the organizers, volunteers and participants.
The event is an important fundraiser for local cancer support organizations, including our Walker Family Cancer Centre and other services Niagara Health provides across the region. In its 12 years, the event has raised more than $7.5 million, which all stays in Niagara.
At the 2017 event, the Niagara Health Extraordinaires, featuring more than 100 members of our team, raised over $15,000 for the event. Our team was honoured to receive the Nancy O'Rourke Courage and Heart Memorial Trophy for being the top community team fundraiser.
Next year’s Rankin Cancer Run takes place on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 10 a.m., starting from Grantham Lions Club on Niagara Street in St. Catharines. Information on how to participate or make a donation to the Rankin Cancer Run is available here.
