Niagara Health System’s Welland Site is improving its energy efficiency with an innovative project that is reducing its energy consumption by 13 per cent, an amount equivalent to the consumption of 75 family homes. In addition to recovering internal heat using a heat pump, the hospital site has also updated its lighting systems and chilled water network.
The work at the Welland Site is part of a larger energy efficiency project that extends to other NHS sites.
Members of the media are invited to the Welland Site, 65 Third Street, Front Lobby, Thursday, November 29, 10 to 11 a.m., for a tour and to learn more about this project as well as tips everyone can use to conserve energy at work and at home.
NHS has partnered with Ecosystem Energy Services Inc. (Ecosystem), a leading firm of energy efficiency experts, to design and implement the project. Equipment renewal will be paid through energy savings.
