Only 282 days until construction is complete!
Each day our new health complex and Walker Family Cancer Centre looks more like a hospital, but it is still an active construction site with over 580 workers, which means access is still limited. We are looking at providing innovative ways to showcase spaces that are nearing completion in this period of ongoing construction.
Providing care for critically ill patients in our new hospital
Pictured Left: Decentralized care stations provide excellent sight lines for caregivers and bring them closer to the bedside. Pictured Right: These charting station alcoves were designed by NHS nurses during design development meetings to provide full views of the patient rooms.
The design of this world-class facility took the strengths of local knowledge from our clinicians and global expertise of our architects to create a building that is focused on the patient experience and outcome.
As departments are completed, members of the media will be invited to tour these spaces on a monthly basis. This will provide them with the opportunity to interview healthcare providers who helped shape the design based on their areas of expertise, enabling us to illustrate to the greater Niagara community how the new hospital will enable us to provide care in new ways.
The first of this series will feature the Critical Care Unit with Respiratory and Internal Medicine Physician Dr. Mark Jany, to create awareness about how critically ill patients will be provided with the best possible care experience.
