Saturday Feb 4th is World Cancer Day – a day to unite the world in the fight – through raising awareness, educating the public and lobbying for change. It is only by every person, organization, and government, individually doing their part, that the world will be able to reduce the global cancer burden. For more information on how you can take part, visit worldcancerday.org.
Niagara’s solution: Our new Walker Family Cancer Centre
The Chemotherapy treatment area in our new Walker Family Cancer Centre features floor-to-ceiling windows and radiant heat to keep patients warm while undergoing treatment. (Pictured left in an artist’s sketch and right in a finished state).
Our new Walker Family Cancer Centre, currently over 85% complete, will provide a full range of cancer services to patients in the region when it opens in Spring 2013.The dedicated oncology facility will provide radiation treatment for the first time in Niagara, meaning that the majority of cancer patients will be able to receive their chemotherapy and radiation treatment in Niagara, allowing them to make this personal journey as close to home as possible.
