Niagara Health System is proud to announce that for the first time ever, our Accreditation status has been upgraded to Accredited with Exemplary Standing following an appeal of our original award.
Exemplary Standing is for organizations that go beyond the requirements of Accreditation Canada and demonstrate excellence in quality improvement.
"This is an extraordinary achievement and reflects the incredible efforts of the entire NHS team as we continue our ongoing quality and safety journey," says NHS President Dr. Suzanne Johnston. "While there is much to be proud of, it is imperative we continue to reinforce important quality and safety practices and work together to achieve excellence in care.
In November, a group of surveyors from Accreditation Canada travelled to Niagara to complete our on-site accreditation. They visited every NHS site, program and service, spending time talking with staff, physicians and volunteers, interviewing patients and families, and reviewing documents. Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits healthcare and social services organizations in Canada and around the world.
