Support and Resources

There are many resources and supports available to help you navigate your NICU journey. We will help to connect you with these supports as needed. Our unit has social workers who also play a vital role in supporting you and your family and helping to make your transition into discharge successful.

Parent Talk Line

  • 905-684-7555 or 1-888-505-6074 ext. 7555
  • Connect with a public health nurse to address any questions or concerns with your child’s health or your pregnancy

Niagara Parents Live Chat

  • Video call or chat with a public health nurse Monday through Friday

Early Child Development

  • Can be self-referred
  • For infants at risk or diagnosed with developmental delays, prematurity, birth related trauma, exposure to substance abuse, and genetic disorders

Home Visiting Program

  • Can be self referred
  • Supports families from prenatal until school age with home visits for prenatal concerns, growth and development concerns, parenting support, feeding concerns, breastfeeding support, mental health concerns, and need for additional supports

Resources for parents of premature babies include:

  • Canada wide education and research regarding preterm births and defining best standards of care
  • Lots of resources for families to help make time in the NICU more comfortable
  • Resources to promote bonding and to connect families going through similar experiences
Life with a Pre-term Baby
  • Peer support program for support of families in the NICU
  • Education and resources for NICU families
Postpartum Support International
  • Helps to connect you with trained professionals as well as online support groups for mothers experiencing postpartum depression
  • International online support chats, forums, Facebook pages, meetings, and professional help connections
