Niagara Health hosting engagement sessions on hospital transformation plan

Posted Mar 1st, 2024

As Niagara Health continues to build a new, modern, regional hospital system, we will hold a series of engagement sessions for community members over the next several weeks.

These sessions, offered in various locations, will provide opportunities for residents to learn more about the three-site hospital system, ask questions about our transformation and provide input.

By concentrating our resources at three cornerstone hospitals - South Niagara, The Marotta Family (St. Catharines) and Welland, Niagara Health will help deliver seamless hospital care across the region and improve patient experiences.

Niagara Health is evolving to overcome the challenges of today’s healthcare landscape, by investing in new technologies and equipment, adapting how care is provided to address health care worker shortages, and ensuring residents have a seamless journey in and out of hospital.

“In order to provide the best quality care to our current and future patients, we must modernize how care is delivered,” says Lynn Guerriero, President and CEO, Niagara Health. “These three hospitals will provide patients access to the highest quality care by bringing together our staffing and expertise. This model will also help us accommodate Niagara’s growing and aging population, while meeting the unique chronic care and clinical needs of our community.”

Transforming our hospitals and how we deliver care means patients will receive specialized care from the best clinical experts. Our community will have access to enhanced programs, including centres of excellence in cancer, cardiac, kidney, mental health and addictions, stroke, complex care, wellness and aging, eye care and women and babies.

“The improvements we’re working on aren’t only about building new hospitals,” says Angela Zangari, Executive Vice-President, Finance, Redevelopment & Facilities, Niagara Health. “We’re also working together with our local health partners to create new ways for patients to access quality care in community settings. We will create stronger connections to our local healthcare partners to expand access to primary care, mental healthcare, chronic disease management and other services.”

Members of the community are invited to learn more about our transformation at these upcoming engagement sessions:
