Nurses hosting another pasta dinner fundraiser

Posted Nov 22nd, 2010

You deserve a night off, so go ahead, and get out of the kitchen! Call up a friend, neighbours, long-lost cousins to join you and your family for a wholesome meal and good conversation.

What a great way to kick off the spirit of giving this holiday season. Who would have thought that the sale of pasta dinners in Niagara would help to build a much-needed health clinic in a Kenyan village in Africa?

So far, our nurses have raised about $6,000 toward their $20, 000 goal and hope the Nov. 27 pasta supper will be their biggest fundraising success yet.

This year is International Year of the Nurse, and Niagara Health System nurses are holding a number of fundraising events for a building project to provide better healthcare in Africa. Partnering with international child rights and relief agency Free the Children, the nurses are working to raise $20,000 to send five or six Niagara youth to a Kenyan village to help build the facility.

Doors open on Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Rockin Daisies and Ed Walmsley. Servers will be students from local high schools and from the event management program at Niagara College.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for children 12 years and under, and can be purchased by calling 905-378-4647, ext. 33000, or emailingniahealsys@live.com.
