Niagara Health's medical program cares for adult patients with acute medical needs that require inpatient treatment and interventions. The medical program has inpatient units at the Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Welland sites.

The medicine program has sub specialties including cardiology, respirology, neurology, nephrology, oncology, general internal medicine, hospitalist medicine and gastroenterology.

The medicine program has an interdisciplinary approach to care to ensure all of our patients care needs are met.

Members of the interdisciplinary team include:

  • Physicians
  • Nurses
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Personal Support Workers and Healthcare Assistants
  • Allied Health Team, including: Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists Registered Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers, Speech Language Pathologists, Case Managers and Spiritual Care staff

The Care Team will help you:

  • Set goals around your healthcare needs
  • Make decisions about your health
  • Guide and help you with daily treatments
  • Develop a discharge plan

Your Care Team meets to talk about:

  • Your diagnosis and treatment
  • Your progress
  • What you need to learn to manage your illness and recovery
  • Your plan for discharge
